One thing that is certain today - Internet usage is growing each day.

Social networking sites, video streaming, music download, online gaming and browsing all have one thing in common and that is connection or connectivity. Almost all of the products released today have Wi-Fi capabilities and one must be equipped with the right gear to get things accomplished.

Linksys is a brand of network hardware for home and small office use owned by Cisco, the worldwide leader in networking. Their core product includes routers, switches, extenders, bridges, adapters, gateways and even network cameras.

The company was founded in 1988 in California and become a major player in the market in 2005. That’s about 23 years in the network communication business. Their slogan is “We are making connectivity easier”.

The window for a good company to draw potential customer is a comprehensible, user-friendly and simple website and Linksys by Cisco has all that. Linksys website is very much easy to use. All their products can be navigated straightforwardly. Each model comes with four helpful tabs that can assist one what is to buy and what is needed. The first is the feature tab that informs basic capabilities of the device. Next are the Specification and Review tabs. Lastly is the Related Item which suggests other devices to make the most of the product.

They also offer options to fully maximize the capabilities of your home network, which is connecting all your Wi-Fi capable devices like HDTV, Smart phones, laptop, tablets, media player, game consoles and printer. This really shows that the company isn’t all for profit as it prefers what you really needed and not just with the newest model.

Linksys primary product which is the router with their latest E-series ranges from $200 to $60. Other older model router ranges from $129.99 to $49.99.

Linksys vs. primary competitors (sites similar to Linksys)

Linksys main competitors are Netgear and D-Link. Asus, Billion and Belkin are also notable competitors

Linksys vs. Netgear

Both companies focuses on home and small office networks with Linksys with a staggering 23 years in the market while Netgear only began on 1996 with only16 years on the business.

Product offering also differs as Netgear also have wired routers and other devices like cables and storage, they even provide mobile broadband. Linksys wireless devices although emphasized as wireless also comes with a wired port on their routers.

One big difference between them is the way you can purchase online. Linksys offer direct selling of the products thru their website which is neat and efficient while Netgear offers you to choose their online retailers.

Linksys website is way better looking and easy to navigate than Netgear’s. Linksys also have an option to compare its devices suitable for your needs but it needs upgrading as it compare only its latest series.

Both companies offers home networking solution which is great but Linksys has the lead for its simplicity and better presentation.

Both companies offers 24/7 tech support.

Both company offers free shipping with Linksys having a free overnight shipping advantage.

Linksys vs. D-Link

D-Link year of expertise started way back 1986, 2 years younger than Linksys. They both offer the same products of home network devices and surveillance cameras.

D-Link is the first networking company to implement power saving technology which they call green technology. In 2007, the company was featured in the "Info Tech 100", a listing of the world's best IT companies. It was also ranked as the 9th best IT Company in the world for shareholder returns by BusinessWeek.

Linksys website is better to navigate and explore while D-Link site is somehow just a catalog of products. The latter don’t have a home network solution options but have a router selector in which you answer questions and eventually suggest the right router for you.

Both company offers free shipping and offer 24/7 technical support.

Linksys vs. Asus

Asus have a broader line of electronic products like computer hardware, computer systems, computer peripherals and consumer electronics with the latter as the similar products with Linksys. This can be seen as an advantage for Linksys as they are experts in wireless electronic devices. In fairness to Asus, Linksys is owned by Cisco which also has larger set of products but focuses mainly on computer networking.

Asus site boast of their innovations and awards which can catch a good eye and impress potential customers.

Asus also have a compare function in which you can evaluate the device hand on hand from their list of their product and have a detailed view. Linksys on the other hand compares only its latest E-series router. Both companies offers 24/7 tech support.

One downfall for Asus is its completely different site for purchasing the product that gave me a hard time finding again that turn out for parts and peripherals only. One must find a retailer in order to obtain the equipment and the sad part is they don’t advise which the retailers are. This leads Linksys in purchasing convenience.

Linksys vs. Billion

Billion was founded on 1973 but the brand was just officially launched in 2004. Their products line consists of modem, router, and bridge with the combination of the first two as their core product. Linksys on the other hand focuses on wireless routers, extenders, gateways and network cameras.

Billion website is pretty straightforward. They also display their awards to attract customers.

Both companies offers 24/7 tech support.

Billion don’t sell their product directly on their website and they don’t inform who the retailers are. Linksys definitely had the lead for convenience in buying.

Linksys vs. Belkin

Belkin is a computer hardware company that started in 1983. They focuses on routers and other peripheral devices like iPhone and notebook accessories.

Belkin had several criticisms on their wireless router, one instance is that it occasionally replace HTTP request with their filtering software which they issued a firmware update to solve the issue.

Linksys definitely had the lead for convenience in purchasing as Belkin don’t sell their product directly on their website and they don’t inform who the retailers are.

Both companies offers 24/7 tech support.

“It really works”. It performs well and has sped up my internet speeds. I am very impressed.4 stars

                                                                                    -footclankila   Ohio, USA

“Maximum Performance?”.  I don't know that I really got any value for spending more money for the top model. While the ad for this and the all the other models of wireless router all the way down to the $59 1200 model say that they provide coverage "throughout the home," I do not get that kind of coverage from this router. 3 stars

                                                                                    - MBrettH   Florida, USA

“Does what it needs to do”. Simple and Easy without error. 5 stars

                                                                                    -Anonymous   Dubai

“Great Product”. I love the dual network and the performance I have received since using this product. My network file transfer has improved drastically. Actually, my network drives feel like local hard disks.4 stars

                                                                                    - Clewo123   New York, USA

“Very bad” Customer support was good but the product is bad. My product E4200 wireless router which was just barely 30 days old stopped working. Then, it was replaced by a refurbished product which is still not working. 1 star

                                                                                    - Sghate   Texas, USA

“Great Router but a bit expensive” Powerful router for my home office. 5 stars

                                                                                    - Jhumphrey   Ohio, USA

Great Router! Great performance! his was the product I needed for a long time. I set it up in no time, and performance is excellent. Most importantly, my Iomega StorCenter ix4-200d finally stays connected and no longer drops out. My former router (not Cisco) seemed to have left me down for over 2 years. 5 stars

                                                                                    - Mwarnez   Belgium
